Jharkhand Gangrape Case: Dulquer Salmaan, Richa Chadha, Vir Das And Others Condemn The Heinous Crime- READ TWEETS
As the nation was busy enjoying the pre-wedding festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, a Spanish biker couple faced a horrendous experience in Jharkhand. The couple, which was travelling through Kurmahat village in Dumka, Jharkhand to Nepal, was attacked and robbed by a few villagers. The wife was raped by seven men while they tied up her husband and beat him up. As soon as the couple shared the entire ordeal through an Instagram video, which is now deleted, netizens, as well as celebrities, took to their social media handles to condemn their acts and express their disgust over the same.

Soon the video took the internet by storm with netizens condemning the shameful act. Celebrities like Vir Das, Richa Chadha, and Dulquer Salmaan also took to their official handles to express their shock. While the soon-to-be mommy commented on the now-deleted post, “Shameful! Indians are treating foreigners like they treat their own women. Shame on our rotten society.” The Sita Ramam actor recalled, “Crushed to hear about this! You both recently visited Kottayam where close friends hosted you for a meal. This should not happen to anyone anywhere.”

Taking to his official X handle, the comedian wrote, “The 7 men responsible for Jharkhand need to be found and given the strictest punishment the law can provide. A shameful act that we MUST show will not be tolerated.” Singer Chinmayi Sripaada reacted to a tweet by a reporter who stated that they always advise their friends to not travel to India alone. She added, “It is well known by now how men in India ogle at and harass foreign nationals and women. It was only a few days ago that a Korean vlogger published how she was harassed. No idea why these people are in denial instead of acknowledging and putting systems in place. It is not as if the process of lodging a police complaint is easy.”

According to a report by the Hindustan Times, three people have been arrested in connection to the gang rape case. The victim’s statement has been recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC. Addressing the media during a press conference, the superintendent of Jharkhand police, Pitamber Singh Kherwar revealed that a medical test was done on the victim and it confirmed rape.
